
Amber earned her BSc in Plant Biology and PhD in Plant Biology with a Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology from the University of California, Davis. As a recipient of the
Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation, she conducted her doctoral research in Richard Michelmore’s lab, where she used CRISPR/Cas9 gene
editing to enhance the quality and sustainability of lettuce, specifically focusing on modifying carotenoid biosynthesis and amino acid transport.
Beyond her research, Amber was selected for the Business Development Fellowship, which sponsored her to complete a year of MBA coursework at UC Davis’ Graduate School of Management and gain hands-on business development skills. She then received the Innovator Fellowship, allowing her to work for six months with an early-stage venture capital firm in the Bay Area.
Amber is passionate about developing innovative technologies that allow growers to produce food more sustainably. She brings a combination of scientific expertise and business insight to the team.
